Motivation

Motivation is what incites us to take the action we need in order to move forward and make positive change in our lives. Without motivation we can become listless, apathetic and de-energised. Without motivation we have less chance of achieving the goals we set ourselves. Without motivation things will just not happen in our lives, and we risk failing to move forward.

In order to make things happen we need to understand why motivation is so important, as well as the role it plays. Strong motivation is one of the key ingredients needed for us to achieve our goals, and is the thing that keeps us on course when the going gets tough. Motivation is also the thing that keeps us so focused on the goals, plans directions we have chosen that it alone, if strong enough, can get the job done. Motivation is a hunger, a yearn, a pang for success - whatever your definition of success might be. It is the feeling in the pit of your stomach that says: 'Right! Let's get to work!'

It is the thing that keeps you up until gone midnight working on your dream, desire and goal. It is the thing that gets you so involved in an activity that you are completely absorbed and oblivious to the passage of time. It is the thing that others see when you are on the way to achieving your goals, and that sometimes they feel unable to match. It is the thing that earns you the respect of others who sense that something significant is going to happen.

Motivation should therefore never be underestimated. It is much more than it appears to be on the surface and can be the difference between success and 'failure'.

This workshop centres on the two principal types of motivation that spur us into action, how they differ from each other and the roles they play in motivating us. The ultimate aim of the workshop is for participants to come away feeling more motivated to achieve the goals they set themselves, and more hopeful for the future.
